Exercise Bands for Home Exercise

Exercise bands are stretch bands, latex or latex-free, that give your home exercises some light resistance. Band color tells you its strength.

This item is supplied only on a physician’s order, and it is fitted on you in the clinic.

What are exercise bands?

Stretchy bands in different colors, each color a different strength. Latex-free bands are available.

How does it help you heal?

They make your muscles work a little harder as you heal, without heavy weights.

How should it feel?

Even tension as you move. Keep an even pace out and back, and stay in control so the band never snaps.

How do you wear it, use it and keep it in shape?

Close one end in a door on the hinge side, or step on it to hold it. Check it for nicks or tacky spots before every use and toss it if you see any. Store it away from heat and out of the sun. If the skin it touches itches, or a rash or hives appear, stop and call us.

When should you call us?

Call us if:

  • You are allergic to latex (a latex-free band is available)

How long do you use it?

Only for the exercises checked on your sheet.

We size the item on you and coach you until you can manage it on your own, from strapping it on to taking it off. Written instructions go home with you, and the signed receipt stays in your chart. Phone us about any pain, a bad fit or a broken piece.

What to remember

  1. Slow both ways, with no snapping.
  2. Look for nicks before every use.
  3. Door hinge side, or under your foot.

Show us you have it: Pick one move from your band sheet and run it for us here in the clinic. If any part is unclear, ask us to go over it again; there is no limit on that.

The two band exercises on your sheet are the band row and the outward turn with band.
